Generating Ideas at your ‘House’ – are you doing this well?
One session was presented by Martin Seligman, researcher/psychologist, author of the concept of learned optimism, authentic happiness and now accredited as being one of the father figures of Positive Psychology. See www.authentichappiness.org for the latest research and free tools to think about when considering business and personal lives. His latest book ‘Flourish’ is worth a read.
Yesterday’s program was entitled ‘All about Women’ and covered a diversity of topics affecting women in their business and personal lives. Best presentation for me was by Leymah Gbowee, 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winner. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leymah_Gbowee for a short bio. hat an inspiration and what a great story teller! Astanding ovation followed her presentation.
Two things emerged for me from these two events. Firstly the extent of dialogue and debate amongst the audience as they left the venue/ sessions. Ideas following freely and energy levels were high. Taking time to stop and think is rewarding.
The second one was not about going to my ‘standard’ sources of information. Could have easily skipped the ‘All About Women’ session (as many men did noting male numbers in audience probably numbered less than 1%). However I would have missed hearing an inspirational global leader of whom I knew nothing. And having a great day with my wife.
My questions to you is about how well you are generating ideas at your ‘House’ (business or personal). What might you do differently to get some new inspiration?
